Being a Designer and looking for work!!!!

I tell all of my friends who complain, "I want a new job but don't feel like updating my resume!"....I say to them, "BE A DESIGNER...THE RESUME IS THE EASY PART!!!".

I have recently come to the realization that if I want the job that is the next level for me in my career when I move to London, I need to step up my portfolio so I have begun that project and will need to complete it before I leave...IN 25 DAYS!!!!!.

This AM, I was able to complete my first revamp 2 pages by doing some renderings and specs for a bag I did at J. Crew (See image above).

Apartment Stress!

This week has been full of "To Do's" and I feel like I have gotten a lot done. The excitement of moving is shared with some stress in the weeks leading up to it...so much to do.

1) Dr's appts. I have 4 in the next week!!!!Add Image
2) Furniture for Sale. Anyone need a rug, coffee table or dresser?
3) Spoke w/my provider...Cell Phone will be cancelled when I leave.
4) US Postal Service now knows when I will leave and my dear friend Kim has agreed to let me forward my mail to her since she is in the US. Fabulous!!!!

Stuff I still need to do:

1) Paint the walls in my room
2) Sell the Furniture...Anyone need a rug, coffee table or Dresser? Oh I already typed that?
3) Speak to my bank peeps to make sure I won't get charged any fees if I opt to keep my acct. open.
4) Find a Job
5) Seek Out Employment
6) GET A JOB!!!!!!!!!!
7) Come up w/concepts for our flat in London.

I think 4,5 and 6 will have to wait until I arrive in the UK...oh well..won't settle for something that isn't what I'm looking for in terms of employment just so I can say I found something. It might take awhile. Thank god for free health care!!!

Bonjour from Paris!

I arrived in London on Friday, June 11th and have just returned from a two day excursion to Paris. I loved every second of it but also loved that I will be going back often once I move to London next month.

We were able to catch up with my dear friend Jenn Fox who is studying Wine at Le Cordon Bleu. She is pictured below enjoying some beer. The Eiffel Tower was some
thing I will never forget seeing.
It is HUGE and one of those sights you fantasize about seeing as a child. The whole thing was very romantic

USA! USA!

I'm headed over to London this evening to support our US boys in the World Cup this weekend. I am cautiously optimistic that we will pull out an upset victory!!! Let's see how my American pride translates.

Bags Packed. I'm sending over multiple bags with my fellow travelers so I won't have to ship things for the move.

Special Thanks to Selin, Eric, Gerry, Julie and Adrienne for helping me out. This is what we were dealing with in terms of bags...

AWAY I GO

Let's sum up what is going on and why I want to document it all.

Who I am and what is going on.

- Born, raised and edu-ma-cated in NC, moved to NYC 9 years ago and now moving to the UK...Londontown

Why am I blogging

- to keep my USA peeps up to speed on what is going on w/me (in brief...no novels here)

- to help other expats out who might be going through visa challenges, moving challenges etc. I will have first hand experience and can give a non corporate/real voice to how it works, what is rad and what sucks about it all as an American living in a new country.

- to just share random stuff that goes down...some interesting, some downers, hopefully most positive and most importantly...funny ;)!

Now let's figure this whole European thing out shall we?
